Review: Big Sean – Dark Sky Paradise

Big Sean’s Dark Sky Paradise is in stores today. While you would be justified to ignore this album based on any other project Sean has released since signing to GOOD Music, DSP is actually worth a spin. Sean’s goofiness (and tendency to spit the same suffix until he’s gasping for air) has been the largest hurdle that his confidence and wit must overcome. Outside of a guest verse, it rarely happened. But this time it did. Sean’s made an album you can play through, front to back, without facepalming at every other line/Mike Posner appearance (thankfully there are none this… continue reading

Big Sean – Me, Myself & I Freestyle

Big Sean – Me, Myself & I Freestyle

If this was a different era, or albums didn’t leak so early, Big Sean’s latest freestyle would be hyping up Dark Sky Paradise much more. Not discrediting what he does with Beyonce’s instrumental, because it’s still one hell of a freestyle that shows off why Sean is currently that dude. He’s been wrecking verses, and releasing hot singles. The verdict is still out on his album only to allow more listens before an opinion is formed and distributed to the internet. On “Me, Myself & I,” Sean has fun, poking fun at The Grammys and Kendrick Lamar. Both are subtle… continue reading

Preach On, Sermon: Big Sean’s Road To Redemption

Preach On, Sermon: Big Sean’s Road To Redemption

Break-ups are motivation. Amidst all the heartbreak and depression that comes with it, one thing I’ve learned is to never stop working. There’s never been a day where I’ve felt like I can’t write due to feeling sad. In fact, I take break-ups too seriously in my mind. Those looming questions of why she doesn’t want me or how could she do whatever she did build up the rage inside. A lot of people use that rage as a negative tool, but I seek out the positive from it. Thus, I have been able to put myself into opportunities, because… continue reading

Big Sean Ft. Drake – Blessings

Big Sean Ft. Drake – Blessings

Big Sean is one hungry individual. “At the top of the rap game and still progressing.” Despite being on his third album, Dark Sky Paradise, Big Sean rejuvenates himself with a serious run almost each time before an album. It doesn’t always translate into a strong album, though, as we’ve seen with Hall Of Fame. This new one is backed by the infectious, Platinum-selling “IDFWU,” and now this Drake-assisted “Blessings.” Is there a bad Big Sean and Drake collaboration? I don’t think so. “Blessings” doesn’t break the trend either. You have Drizzy kicking bars that you’d expect out of him… continue reading

Eminem, Royce Da 5’9″, Big Sean, Danny Brown, Dej Loaf & Trick Trick – Detroit Vs. Everybody

Eminem, Royce Da 5’9″, Big Sean, Danny Brown, Dej Loaf & Trick Trick – Detroit Vs. Everybody

Statik Selektah has been wanting to work with Eminem for a long time. He’s been a long-time employer of Shade 45, Em’s radio station, and mentioned that he has sent him beats in the last year. We now get to see what that manifests into with “Detroit Vs. Everybody.” This track has Eminem putting the most known from his city together for over six minutes. Big Sean showed out with his verse. He’s been on quite the roll this year. While you can always expect top notch from Royce Da 5’9″ and Eminem when put in a situation that requires… continue reading

Video: Mike Posner Ft. Big Sean – Top Of The World

Personally, the best news of the week, besides King Push being in the studio with The Neptunes for 20 days in January, was that Big Sean and Mike Posner are making music together again. Today, Mike shared the video for the duo’s latest Diplo produced-single ‘Top Of The World,’ off Posner’s forthcoming album Pages. As you probably expected, the video includes shots from all over D-Town; Ford Field, The Palace, you get the idea. Check it out above and grab the song on iTunes right here. Previously: Big Sean Ft. Rick Ross & Travis Scott – 10 2 10 (Remix) Follow… continue reading
