DX: [Laughs] A little history question here: Is it true that Kanye tried to get on with Cash Money before he got down with Roc-A-Fella?

Mannie Fresh: Yeah, he did. And that’s how far we go back. It’s a blessing when you are good people. When Kanye first came around, I let him use my equipment. I didn’t know him from a can of paint. I just thought he was a talented dude. And I was like, “Here dude, you can use my MPC, my keyboards, whatever you need to do.” And that came back around by him reaching out right now.

He told me one of his stories [from when he was at Cash Money Records], he was like, “I called back home and I was like, ‘Dude, I’m using Mannie Fresh’s equipment, y’all a never believe this.’” So it’s like I said, you never know who is gonna be that guy.

Interesting. I do wonder how his career would’ve turned out had he became signed to Cash Money.

DX: Going back to that [tour] clip, you’re seen in there giving a nice little motivational speech to the G.O.O.D. Music fam. So does this mean you’re officially G.O.O.D. Music in-house yourself now?

Mannie Fresh: Well, we working that out. I’m kind of funny about signing with people. Dude, I’ve been through so much. And I’m not saying I think Kanye is a bad person, but I can’t tell you what that is right now. It’s really on me, and what space I’m in. I’m not saying that I wouldn’t do it, but it’s gotta be something that makes sense for me.

Continuing his talk with MTV, Rozay speaks briefly (what else is new?) on a couple of names that have been thrown around the rumor mill to possibly sign with Maybach Music. Emilio Rojas and Dom Kennedy are the two discussed in this clip. Ricky doesn’t provide much insight for the future but keeps that “anything is possible” outlook. MMG West is coming soon, but who will make that branch?

So, when Pill opened up about his situation with MMG and Warner Bros, it shocked us to know he was never contractually signed under Rozay. The situation came and went but Sway got Ross to open up about it, to which he wishes Pill much success in his career. The Epidemic (Hosted By DJ Holiday) is out on February 9 since we’re on the subject.

Labels kept calling, he needed two mill for this shit! Def Jam sufficed. He’s really on his A-game with these T.R.U. Realigion videos. Directed by Vitamin E. Chainz also called into Power 106′s L.A. The man known as 2 Chainz just keeps getting more interesting. Def Jam is his new home. He talks about signing the deal and reveals that he’s been working with Kanye West for the last year. After the cut, he freestyles to get off that couch. I’m pretty sure we’ve heard those bars before.

Well, in a game of no surprises, here’s a surprise. Nipsey Hussle partners with DJ Skee’s Skee Music imprint. I’m glad they doing this because it might result in an actual album this year. If not that, I just want to see Nipsey become more consistent with his music and videos. No more one project a year ways. So, who’s on MMG West then?

Nipsey Hussle and All Money In Entertainment have officially teamed up with DJ Skee and Skee.TV / Skee Music. Skee will handle brand development, marketing, and communications for Nipsey and all of his related business, and will exclusively be responsible for the handling of Nipsey’s branding, partnership development, licensing, and marketing while also acting as Nipsey’s management. The partnership combines Skee’s far reaching content distribution platforms with Nipsey’s All Money In imprint and his Crenshaw clothing line.

“The separation between artists and their labels is the reason a lot of things don’t work. When people get together and pull resources, it makes it better for everybody” stated Nipsey in an interview with Skee announcing the partnership on Sirius XM Satellite Radio. “It’s 2012 and we saw the artists that have been successful recently- most of them built up their Internet base ahead of time and took advantage of the Internet and the new media and so, I think that what you’ve got going, Skee, is the perfect platform for artists like myself.”
